Streethay to Hopwas

4.4 miles, no locks, 1hr 50mins.

Having spent a few days getting painting and other jobs done at Streethay, we set of this morning.

Approaching Huddlesford junction. Having moored up near Hopwas school and had lunch we took a quick walk around.

Thomas Barnes primary school, unfortunately it is having a lot of maintenance work hence the temporary fencing spoiling the scene.

On the front of what looks suspiciously like the old toilet block of the school they have built this bouldering wall.

More Painting

Jo did a lot more painting yesterday.

The first coat of paint on the engine room floor was just a bit of what she did.

Today Jo was hard at it again, with a 2nd coat on the engine room floor.

I did some rewiring in the engine room, whilst it was cleared out for Jo’s paint. I wanted to get some cabling inside the trunk which I had added but did not put in the trunking at the time, but all sorted now .

Much Needed Paintwork.

Yesterday and today Jo has been busy painting the bow and stern.

I took a walk along to the new Kings Orchard Marina, which has recently opened.

There is still a lot of work to do, but it is taking shape. Opening was delayed to due toe water shortages stopped it from being filled with water.

Where we are moored we are in the flight path of a small air strip beside the canal. Today I caught an aircraft taking off over us.

Alrewas to Streethay Wharf.

5.85 miles, 5 locks, 3hrs 40mins.

A warm sunny start to the day.

We turned at the junction onto the Coventry Canal and pulled into the water point to top up with water.

 

Approaching Streethay Wharf. We are going to spend a few days here, catching up on much needed paintwork whilst the weather is good.

Branston to Alrewas.

4.95 miles, 4 locks, 2hrs 35mins.

We decided not to move yesterday as it was raining, so this morning we set off in much better conditions.

The River Trent weir was flowing well as we passed by. Having moored up in Alrewas, we took a walk into the village before lunch.
