Top of Foxton Locks to Welford Junction, 7 miles no locks

This morning Jo applied a 2nd coat of paint to the roof, hatches and bow. We were expecting a food delivery at the road junction between 3:00pm and 4:00pm, good thing were arrived there early as he arrived at 2:40pm!
We then moved odd in the dry, but on the other side of Husbands Bosworth tunnel it was raining.
Now moored at Welford junction.

Clarke's Bridge to Bridge 60 Top of Foxton Locks, 1.52 miles, 10 locks 2 swing-bridges

Earlyish start this morning for 1st locking up Foxton locks.

Welford to Foxton Locks Inn, 8.8 miles 11 locks

We said farewell to Welford this morning amidst warm sunshine.

We met 4 boats coming the other way in Husband Bosworths tunnel.

Welford Junction to Welford, 1.39 miles 1 lock.

Another amazingly sunny and warm morning.

Having winded me moored temporarily on the service mooring awaiting other boats to move from our allocated slot for the weekend.


Temporarily moored on our allocated slot, awaiting Cepheus to arrive as they are mooring against the bank and we will moor alongside them.


This afternoon Cepheus arrived and slipped inside us, so we are now both safely moored up for the weekends celebration of the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the Welford Arm.

Market Harborough to Top of Foxton Locks, 6.1 miles 10 locks

Very sunny trip today.

Kilby Bridge to Foxton Locks Inn, 10.1 miles 12 locks.

Good run today, we seemed to dodge to passing showers.
Leaky lock walls, just at engine room height!

We stopped briefly below Taylor's Turnover lock so I could visit Fox Transfers in Kibworth to lick up some custom made transfers I had negotiated for my working narrowboats on my model railway. Tepees alongside Taylor's Turnover lock.


We had these nice folks joins as we set off from below Turner's Turnover lock for the last 3 locks.

Aylestone to Kilby Bridge. 5.9 miles 9 locks.

A little light drizzle when we set off this morning, but it didn't last and we ended up with a very pleasant morning run.
King's lock tearooms is never open when we pass by!


We even shared a couple of locks with these volunteers on the work-boat. They are taking it to Crick to use to set up the bridge over the canal for the Crick boat show.

Drizzle all day today, so being aware how the River Soar can rise following rain I thought it best to press on through Leicester.

Barrow upon Soar to Mountsorrel, 2 miles 1 lock

Very short hop this morning to Mountsorrel, where we have never stopped before, so we have time this year so we have. 😛
