Frontcysyllte 3

Another early start this morning to get through the narrows without too many opposing boats.

Unfortunately we met a hire boat coming out of this bridge hole, and it took a bit of persuading I needed the deeper water around the outside of the bend.

Having moored up at 9:00am we were picked up by a friend, Mile Byrne, in his car and he took us on our tour of the local area, away from the canal. First we went to Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall.

Then we treated Mike to lunch at the Plas Yn Dre Restaurant in Bala, all three of us opted for the carvery, and very good it was too.

Then on our return journey we saw the steam train again, so we stopped at Glyndyfrdwy railway station to catch it passing through the station.

This was a wedding train, with full wedding party, and even the wedding cake was on-board.

We moved to stand on the footbridge over the line, and got chatting to what was the groom, and low-and-behold he is a boater too, and knew all about Hadar, what a small world. Later this evening the whole wedding party is having a trip on the trip boat from Llangollen to Pontcysyllte aqueduct and back. What a great idea for a different sort of wedding.
