3.73 miles, 1 lock, 2hrs.
This morning we took another walk up into Newark to visit the market.
A very different scene in the Market Square from yesterday, a very busy market. We returned to the boat and set off downstream.
We pulled into the moorings below Nether lock to empty both toilet cassettes, unfortunately whilst trying to pick one up my back went again, darn! The Railway ahead is the East Coast Main line.
Approaching North Muskham.
We moored up on the pontoon above Cromwell lock, this is as far downstream we are going. After lunch we took a walk to Cromwell lock.
The memorial to the ten members of the 131 Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers were killed after a power failure caused the navigation lights on the weir to go out and their boat went over the weir.
The weir. below this weir and the lock the River Trent becomes tidal.
Downstream from the lock and weir.
Downstream end of Cromwell lock.
Keith.
