5.5 miles, 5 locks, 2hrs 50mins.
A warm start, with sunshine wall to wall.
Approaching Cossington lock on the River Wreake.
With the River Wreake having joined the River Soar the navigation has become noticeably wider.
Sileby lock.
Sileby Mill.
Interesting fuel pontoon at Sileby Mill.
The waterside Inn at Mountsorrel lock.
The bridge looks new but it is dated 1860.
New development below Mountsorrel lock of Flemish style houses around a small marina.
Approaching Barrow Deep lock with it’s traffic lights to indicate the state of the river.
Having moored up below the lock we had lunch at The Boathouse.
Whilst sat outside enjoying the warm sunny weather waiting for our lunch to be cooked this Lancaster flew overhead.
After lunch we walked up to the High Street to do a small bit of food shopping, Jo wanted to get some salad stuff as the weather has warmed up.
Looking down Bridge Street towards the river below the lock, and the Soar Bridge Inn and The Boathouse.
Keith.
