Winter is hanging on.

Hi Readers.

Winter has certainly not finished with us yet. Yesterday it snowed all afternoon and into the evening. We were left with about 6 inches of snow covering the ground and conditions on the roads were incredibly dangerous, because the gritters were not out early enough according to one of our customers who came to get a bag of coal on his way home from work. Keith and I love the snow. it was beautiful to see it falling and laying.

This morning began dry, but it was not long before snow was falling again. Keith and I were up early as we had an appointment with Keith's GP. The walk down to the surgery was very picturesque in the snow, but very difficult for drivers, because of the amount of slush on the roads. Keith's GP was unable to offer us any comfort about getting Keith seen sooner for his exploritory operation. Yesterday I rang the hospital to see how we stood on an appointment, because it has been a week since we saw the consultant and had heard nothing. I was told that it would not be until April/May, because their is a waiting list for Urgent procedures, with at least 12 other people in front of Keith. I was also told that the consultant is away much of March and April on holiday, so we have to sit and wait and Keith has to cope with the pain. Keith's GP has told him to keep taking the Anti-Inflammatories and the Morphine, but if the pain gets to out of hand, then Keith can call an ambulance and go into hospital. So that is an update on Keith and the weather.

Have a lovely weekend.

Another day in snowy paradise.

Yesterday morning yet more snow fell, it continued to do so until lunch time. During the morning we welcomed onboard Alison and Ian from working boat Gosty Hill for a coffee and a chat, they had been moored in front of us overnight and were heading back to their mooring.

The snow just transformed everything around us, it looked so tranquil. Looking across the valley all you could see was a serene landscape.
As the day drew to a close, we were joined by NB Maximus, they brought with them the most fabulous sunset.
This morning we have woken up to being iced in, so we will stay put for the time being. One thing we always make sure of, is that we have a good food store onboard. We also have a full tank of water and plenty of diesel, so it is not so important for us to move at the moment, although I think we both feel we want to be moving off, as we get that roving itch.

Snow at last yippee

Last evening I was stood enjoying the last of the day and watching the sunset behind a farm opposite the boat, when a pair of foxes walked down the field from the farm and into the undergrowth. We have seen the odd fox out and about, but never a pair. Sadly one of the foxes was very lame, so I only hope it will be ok, it has probably been in a fight or hit by a car. I only wish I could have got a photograph of them both. As the sunset behind the farm, it looked just like the farm was ablaze. As promised the snow has arrived and we are seeing some of it. Even Marmite wanted to go out and see what all the fuss was about. When it comes to snow I am afraid I am like a little child, I just love everything about it, so no sooner had Paddy been for his walk and breakfast was over with, I was back out with my camera to enjoy the snow. What was so wonderful was the sound of children, laughing, screaming and having fun. The sounds were coming from Cropredy School, where the children were enjoying playtime on the playing field, throwing snow balls and just enjoying the weather. it was so refreshing to see and listen to them having fun, because so often we hear of schools closed due to the weather conditions.
In places the canal has frozen over and the snow has settled on the surface of the canal. Hadar is looking very festive with her coating of snow.Even the Old Mill bridge has a coating of snow due to the direction the wind was blowing.
