Hi Maureen. Mallards do not normally take on another ducks youngsters, in fact they have been know to kill other ducks babies, but in this case it seems they may have taken on a couple of extras. It is very cute. Geese do live in live in flocks with parents taking on others young, we see that a lot.

Awwwww! We had a mallard and his mate in our front yard the other day. So sweet.
And that looks like a "ducky nursery"... where some pairs look after a whole flock of youngsters... I've seen that a lot with Canada Geese.
