This morning we took a stroll up to the Trent & Mersey Canal between Barnton and Saltersford tunnels. The pool between the 2 tunnels.
Saltersford tunnel, south portal.
From above the tunnel portal.
We then walked up into the outskirts of Barnton, towards Barnton Tunnel. This is an air shaft of Barnton tunnel.
Back to the canal from above the north portal of Barnton tunnel.
This boat appeared from the tunnel.
You can just about see the River Weaver below, through the trees.
Saltersford locks as seen from the locks access road between the river and the canal.
We spotted Roy and Thomas off of Gerald No.13 walking towards the locks so we walked there to see them. These boats were arriving at the locks, presumably out from Acton Bridge Cruising Club for the weekend.
We walked back to the boat with Roy and Thomas, where we said our farewells to them as they carried back to Gerald No.13.
Keith.
