We set off from the visitor moorings at Vale Royal and were soon approaching Vale Royal locks.
In the larger lock was moored Alcor, which one of the lock keepers owns.
Big locks.
Approaching Hunt’s locks.
Approaching Northwich and Hayhurst swing bridge.
We pulled in at the 48 hour moorings to empty our toilet cassette, as the sanitary station moorings were busy. Whilst moored here we met up with Lin and Alan on Farthings Hook, who had been at the festival and moored with us at Vale Royal last night. They suggested we stick together for the locks which we did. Once we were all ready we both set off down the river.
Approaching Anderton Boat Lift.
We arrived at Saltersford locks just as the lock keeper was going to lunch, so we moored up on the pontoon and lunch too.
Saltersford lock.
Niagara Falls!
Approaching Acton Bridge Cruising Club.
Acton swing bridge.
Approaching Dutton locks.
We were called into and used the bigger lock of the two, so really big lock.
Approaching Dutton Viaduct, an impressive structure.
Wide open water, I opened Hadar’s engine up a bit more along here, and she trotted along nicely.
Keith.
