Adlington to Bugsworth Basins

Map picture

Bugswoth Basin

A fairly uneventful journey until we neared Marple when we came across Bill  and Ginny on Wilvir moored up , so we pulled alongside for a brief chat.

As we approached Marple we passed by the very impressive Goyt Mill,  which houses the Rope Race Climbing Centre, which on rainy climbing trips to the Peak District we have visited and climbed at on a few occasions.

Once onto the Peak Forest at Marple we soon noticed the difference in canal depth. We struggled all the way down to Bugsworth basin. One thing about the upper Peak Forest canal, the views across the valley are amazing.

We moored up in the first basin, and went and signed in with the Inland Waterways Protection Society, who look after the basins. It is nice to be back here again, we were last here for the first time 6 years ago on “Misty Lady”. This time we have time to explore the area, which we didn’t have last time.

Keith.
