This morning Jo and I had a walk around Shackerstone. We started by walking to the Battlefield Line Railway Shackerstone station.
This is the front of the original station building, which apart from the original ticket office, also houses the Victorian tea room, and museum.
The museum may be small but it it full to the brim with railway memorabilia of all sorts.
This is where the line heads towards Shenton, where the line terminates.
This is the platform side of the station building.
We then walked back into the village. This is the Rising Sun, which looks like it has had a lick of paint since we last visited the village in 2005.
This is St. Peter’s Church, which was having it’s lawn cut, in November! Whatever next? To think this time last year we were only one week away from the canals freezing over.
Keith.
