Birstall to Syston.

1.8 miles, 2 locks, 1hr 25mins.

A warm late start, especially as we had a lie-in this morning. But we were not going far today, we are taking our time travelling down the River Soar, visiting all the places we missed 3 years ago.

We moored up below Thermaston lock to have a walk around another part of Watermead Park.

We then carried on down the river to Hill’s Bridge, we will take a walk back to the Chandlery here today.

Entrance to the Melton Mowbray Navigation, with it’s new towpath bridge which has only recently been installed in March.

After lunch we took a walk to the Chandlery.

We then took a walk along the River Wreake (Melton Mowbray Navigation) for the first mile, this was the start from the new towpath bridge.

We didn’t quite make it to Lewin bridge, where it is hoped to open the first mile of the navigation to.
