After lunch today Jo and I walked down the 13 Farmers Bridge locks. The one and only time I have travelled through these locks was in 1971 on ‘Pisces’. It has changed a bit since then! Well some of it has, and some of it hasn’t.

Aston Junction, the Ashton top lock can bee seen under the wrought iron bridge, the Digbeth branch goes off to the right.

The Digbeth branch continues on to Bordesley junction with the Grand Union Canal.

Hi there...
I wonder if we crossed paths today? We came up Aston / Farmers bridge on this day on a hire boat and I noticed 'Hadar' as we moored outside the arena...
It has been my first time on the canal in some 25+ years (we always used to hire from Brummagem boats on the Oozells loop) and I have been going 'blog-crazy' in the last 6 months in anticipation...
Birmingham certainly has changed since the last time I was there!
Now time to plan the next holiday!

Hello Martin, we certainly did pass a hire boat on the Farmer's Bridge locks, but whether it was you or not I am not sure. Birmingham certainly has changed, even more so from my first journey up the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal in 1971. Hope you enjoyed your time in Birmingham, we certainly do. Regards Keith.
