Foxton to Old Union Canal Society Moorings, Bridge 14.

We cruised to the Old Union Society Moorings Bridge 14 in light drizzle all the way. The bright spot of the cruise was given by the Kingfishers which scooted ahead of us all the way from Foxton. This will be our mooring for the next couple of days.

Just to wish you both a Happy Christmas ...I so enjoy your blog.
Always glad to hear how you manage Marmite on Hadar as we hope to take our two cats on our travels when our boat is finished. Maybe a while yet...self buid!!!

Hi Sally.
Thank you for taking the time to come in and read our adventures.
May you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for 2010. We hope that your self build goes well, and that one day we may get to meet you out on the water.

Hi Sally, Keith here, Merry Christmas to you. You may find introducing your cats to living on a boat a bit difficult, Marmite was introduced to it as a kitten and has grown up with it and knows nothing else. We keep her inside, and only let her out on a lead. Again she has always done it since a kitten and even stands still as we put her harness on as she knows that once it is on she can go outside. We have seen too many cats drowned in the canal because they cannot climb out when they fall in, especially at banks that are piled or concrete. We have also seen too many posters up about missing cats, because the wander off. Taking a dog onboard is easier, they adjust to it easier. I know that the original working boat families used to take on a kitten and if it didn't return they would get another, until they found one that stayed with the boat, can't do that these days. Hope they do adjust to it, let us know how it goes.
