With a drizzly day in prospect we set off for Anderton Boat Lift which we were booked to go up at 10:45am.

We pulled into the holding moorings and awaited our turn for the lift.

We were to be accompanied by a fibreglass cruiser, so we went into the caisson first, the first boat to enter the lift under the new Canal & River Trust banner.

We moored up near Bartington, which is near Acton Bridge, mainly because I suspected we had something on the prop, and after lunch I opened up the weed hatch to discover I was right! No wonder the hire boat which we had followed through Saltersford tunnel, suddenly started to pull away from after I had been following them for quite a while. No TV signal tonight so a DVD is called for this evening.

Keith.
