Hadar Ploughing through the Ice.

Finally we have been able to post this video of Hadar, ploughing through two inches of ice during the winter of 2009/10 from Foxton to Market Harborough. On a normal day the journey time would be 1 hour and 50 minutes, but on this day it took us 6 hours and 40 minutes, arriving in Market Harborough in the dark.

Wow! A regular little (well not so little) ice breaker. That was quite a trip. It looks like this boat was built for just such things. ATB!

If only the blacking was built to take it! Fortunately if we can break ice whilst fully loaded then as we sell coal the bow comes further out of the water, so just before we reload her we can black the bow where the ice takes it off.

Hi Lady Banana. It does seem like an age ago. I wonder what this winter will bring. Not that I am wishing my life away LOL.

Hi Dave. Thank you for your message. It is a fabulous engine and has a sound all of her own. At the moment she is only one of two that we know of in this country.

The award and photo were last year, but when they asked for viewers to send in photos showing them with their trophies we thought that picture was appropriate, we were truly amazed when they showed it.
